Terms of Use

Welcome to Hartype Keyboard! These terms are an agreement between you and the Hartype team (“we”, “us”) covering the Hartype app, the Hartype keyboard extension and related services (together, “the Service”).

Please read these terms carefully before use, especially the clauses in bold that exclude or limit liability and the dispute resolution clause. By agreeing, downloading, installing, signing in to or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read and accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Hartype is an iOS keyboard offering:

• On-device typing: Chinese and English QWERTY, 9-key, number and symbol layouts, and emoji, with support for importing input schemas and color themes;
• AI-assisted writing: reply to others, polish your own words, translate, and reply based on text recognized from a screenshot;
• AI personas: use official personas or create your own so output matches a particular speaking style;
• Hartype Pro: a paid subscription with more daily AI uses and other benefits. See the Subscription Terms.

We may adjust, add or retire features as the product evolves. Changes that affect your main rights will be announced in the app in advance.

2. Accounts

1. Typing on your device needs no account. To use AI features, create custom personas or subscribe to Hartype Pro, you need a Hartype account created with Sign in with Apple.
2. Keep your Apple Account and devices secure. Actions taken through your account are treated as your own.
3. The number of devices signed in to one account at the same time is limited. To add another, sign out on a device you already use.
4. You can delete your account at any time from the Me tab in the app. Deleted account data cannot be recovered; see the Privacy Policy.
5. If you breach these terms, we may, depending on the severity, suspend or end your account’s access to AI features and, where necessary, report to the authorities as required by law.

3. Rules for AI features

1. AI output is generated automatically by a model. We cannot guarantee that it is accurate, complete or suitable for your situation. Output is for reference only. You decide whether to use, edit and send it, and you are responsible for the consequences.
2. Do not rely on AI output for medical, legal, financial or other professional matters.
3. AI features have a daily usage limit. The exact number for the free tier and for Hartype Pro is shown in the app. Limits are per account and shared by all its devices; daily uses expire at the end of the day and do not carry over.
4. To keep the Service stable, we rate-limit unusually frequent requests.
5. Failed generations, and requests blocked by the model’s safety mechanisms, do not count toward your limit.

4. Your conduct

When using the Service you agree not to:

1. Use it to create, publish or spread content that breaks the law, endangers national security, undermines social stability, or promotes violence or pornography;
2. Create content that infringes others’ reputation, privacy, likeness, intellectual property or other legal rights;
3. Use it to harass, defraud, impersonate others, send spam or carry out other illegal activity;
4. Reverse engineer, decompile or crack the Service, or bypass device attestation, usage limits or subscription checks;
5. Call Hartype APIs with scripts, crawlers or other automation, or resell or rent the Service to third parties;
6. Put illegal content into custom personas, or try to induce the model to produce illegal content;
7. Otherwise interfere with the normal operation of the Service or harm the rights of others.

5. Intellectual property

1. The Hartype app’s interface design, icons, text, code and official AI personas belong to us or the relevant rights holders.
2. The text you type, your custom personas and the content AI generates for you belong to you. We do not use this content to train AI models, or for any purpose outside these terms and the Privacy Policy.
3. You must make sure that input schemas, color themes and other files you import do not infringe the rights of others.

6. Paid services

Hartype Pro is an auto-renewing subscription purchased through the Apple App Store. Prices are as shown in the App Store. Billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds are covered by the Hartype Pro Subscription Terms.

7. Privacy

We take your privacy seriously. Keystrokes handled by the keyboard are processed only on your device. AI features process only the text needed, only when you use them, and never store it. See the Privacy Policy for details.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

1. The Service is provided “as is”. We work hard to keep it stable and secure, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. For interruptions or data loss caused by networks, devices, third-party service failures or force majeure, we will do our best to help you recover, but to the extent permitted by law we are not liable.
2. Your local dictionary, input schemas and settings are stored on your device. Deleting the app, resetting or replacing your device may lose this data, so please back it up yourself.
3. If you breach these terms or the law and cause loss to us or to third parties, you are liable for compensation as provided by law.
4. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you actually paid for the Service in the previous 12 months.

9. Changes and termination

1. We may update these terms from time to time. Updates are posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will be announced prominently in the app. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
2. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
3. If you seriously breach these terms, we may stop providing the Service to you. Sections 5, 8 and 10 survive termination.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China (for these purposes excluding the laws of the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions and Taiwan). Any dispute arising from these terms should first be resolved through friendly negotiation; if that fails, either party may bring a lawsuit in a competent people’s court where the defendant is located.

If these terms are provided in more than one language and the versions conflict, the Chinese version prevails.
